The fine team of Biel/Bienne-based Los Orioles seem to appreciate the atmosphere of cellars and squats. They specialized in chicha -a type of cumbia from Peru mixed with surf rock and psyche rock. To some listeners it has the smell of a vintage single malt whisky: a joyfully aggressive taste, subtly developed into several after-flavours.
This is no doubt due to the Afro-beat and dub notes that punctuate the more traditional pieces. Their show offers a sweaty and endless trance of bouncing Latin beats washed in weird and freaky reverbed sci-fi soundscapes. Finally, Los Orioles, will emerge from their humid underground locations in order to move your hips in merciless fashion.
