Hamid Khadiri was born in Kenitra, Morocco, in the heart of the Chaabi, Gnawa, Andalusian Tarab, and Rai music cultures. These different types of North African music have been familiar to him since childhood, and they still form the basis for his musical work. As a teenager, Hamid became interested in percussion, learning techniques from various international masters from India, Africa, and the Middle East. As a result, his music is a combination of traditional Arabic, African, Indian Rhythms with jazz and contemporary world music.
